and impatient that times tick so slowly that it's 3 long hours till off-office hour.

When Is Enough? Where Is the Limit?

As work load is increasing over the rapid changes and dynamic business process & requirement, all are required to follow the orders and support the latest orders from the top management. Without valueing the capability of the implementor, all of us are treated as enabler without questions asked.

"Can your team support this ... requirement? How long do you need to deliver it? BTW, top management already approve this and die also you need to deliver it by next month"

Me: "Wa Lau Weiii ... !! (Day-Light-Murdering)".

That's the common scene which plays over and over in workplace. Being developer who don't have much veto power, we've to follow most of the time. Ultimately, I don't have much comment / complain on that as I belief I'm employed & paid to do those. But the funny thing is, management tends to talk about empowerment, "company asset" thingy. That's really confusing at times.

On one hand, you're reminded of how important your are. How you can change the company's future bla bla bla ...
On second hand, you're told to be a team player and work towards a common goal.
On third hand, you're told that you're just doing your job.

At the end of the day, it can be a sad and frustrating.

S.T.U.P.I.D. Work

It's coming to 4 months since I take over this S.T.U.P.I.D. system from my colleague and it's been nearly total 5 S.T.U.P.I.D. months I work in this company. Walauwei ... I've been working world for more than 5 years liao ... including 2 monkey jobs I had after my graduation.

Like youngsters who leave their home and work in the big city, having a good carrier and eventually my own business have been an ideal ever since I stepped into my first job. Of course, working as employee saves you a lot of trouble and inconvenient over how to sustain your life and guarantee your future. In my workplace, bearing the good name of "Assets of the company", we gone through a series of "brain washing".

Course like, "Company Values", "Culture of Work" have been unendingly specifying on how to work more while not paid more. Feel sucks!!! Work can be very meaningless at times. Very often, we're called to love our work, shit man!!! total lies!!! It's not like I'm withdrawing comfortable USD22,000 a month. These programs only serve one purpose, educated employees to work MORE!!!! work LONGER!!!! yet ... pay the SAME!!!! waaaalauwei ... it's difficult for me to accept that.

Coming to annual review, it's the time we fight for our contribution. Unfailingly, supervisors tend to question all ratings you rated for you. Well, that's quite fair. He/She is just doing her job. It's their duty to tell the employees that

"No, you're paying to do that. By accomplishing that, you're just fulfilling your duty."

WAALAUWEII ... It's so unfair to us. Our efforts are degraded!!! Then why work so hard? Why stayed back after office hour? It's totally nonense working late. The results don't match the effort anyway. Okay, you can say you work to earn it. Then what about those high management who give orders and earned the success we hard-worked? On top of high pay and fat benefits given to them, some of them even had a good raise. Fxxk man!!! Things will get worse if a project is screwed / delayed. Who get the blame? Yes, the project manager shares the equal burden, but we're the one who to blame eventually. Walauweiii ...

So, the summary is, be as practical as possible in your work!!!

FORGET about "LOVE your work thingy!!!"
BE PRACTICAL!!!!! That's how they're rating us in the end. So, why be so naive and stupid and work like dogs for their benefits???
